For the last few years I’ve wanted to learn to play the drums. My wife wasn’t all that keen on the idea, because of the noise, but after I bought a drum lessons dvd I began to twist her rubber arm into letting me practice in our basement. I knew it might still be a bit noisy, but I’d practice right after dinner and on weekends to minimize the disruption to our family. Surprisingly when I was first starting out there was a lot of technical stuff to learn so I didn’t walk right into playing drum fills and loud rolls. This definitely pleased my wife and she’s been more apt to let me practice. If she only knew by giving me more time to practice she was speeding up my improvement which is going to make me better faster she might have thought twice.
